We Filipinos are familiar with Sabong (cock fighting), this male Junglefowl above can be a contender. I used to think it was okay, growing up with a culture that tolerates cockfighting, I saw hybrid roosters that can do the slashing job, fitted with cockfighting knives on their feet, they can be killing machines. In the arena, you will find mangled bodies and limb of this lovely bird all for the joy of betting; after all, when the owner wins, he becomes rich instantly, taking home the money that everyone gamble just for one faithful day.

The one above is a Junglefowl, we have seen them fight in the jungle but not to the death; they fight over a female and if the other rooster loses the fight, it runs away and tries again next time. How did even man get to have them fight over money, and now we are also slaughtering them by hundreds of thousand per day just to feed the entire planet. Chicken is life, yet, we forget where they have come from, the jungle. Conservation is the answer, let’s take care of the birds which living in the forest and jungles.
