black-throated-laughingthrush

Finding this Laughingthrush yesterday was the first bird joy. The weather was not cooperating for birding yet it was fantastic for a weekend retreat since it was foggy and cloudy, it was cold. Every time a bird wave came the clouds also is blown towards the mountain creating a thick fog covering all the birds in front of me. I saw the Scarlet Minivets as a flock just right in front of me covered by fog, Tits, Nuthatches, and other fantastic montane birds. But having this seemingly shy but raucous bird was already one of the highlights of my one day solo birding trip.

This was hiding behind branches and leaves and it would come out occasionally with the others and this one made some funny sounds that made me come close to find it. I could have gotten the whole body shot of this, but then again I was at the mercy of the changing weather yesterday. End of October and up before summer will be the best birding months in this national park. I have seen so much at the new location that I discovered and also found other birders there for each birder keep their own birding places until they are found by another. Well, sharing and honesty is the best way to enjoy birding, we don’t own the birds, we adore them but at least we share also their beauty not only on social media but to each one we meet.
