The Asian Emerald Cuckoo or Chrysococcyx maculatus is a very beautiful bird; watching it was exciting and a special treat. I have seen and observed the simpler Cuckoos and there are so many more to see of them. Also found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its habitat is lowland forests and tropical moist montane forests.

It was perching high up on a branch of a not so thick tree, but people were taking photographs from below and the angle was too low, I tried to find a higher ground in which I could position but I also had to fight back against the flooding afternoon light. It was still too far away and at least I had something out of it. So lovely it was to observe and watch.

Super shot of this beauty. I got lucky with a migrant in Chatuchak Park in Bangkok last year.

Neil, this was a super fun day and this bird entertained us… it sure did give us some great moments and mostly neck pain, shoulder pain from lifting out tripods every other minute walking around to find a great capture, dehydration, and finally hahaha hunger. it was really a day to rememebr though hahaha
