I found this male Tickell’s Blue Flycatcher at Baan Song Nok, Kaeng Krachan National Park, though I also found the female at the same time, I have chosen a female from another location to post here. I love the Tickell’s Blue Flycatcher because of its iridescent blue colour as if it is a glow-in-the-dark feathers or a neon blue light. It was almost dark, the light was very low, enough to take some colours through my D500 sensor, I captured the image. later, it was dark already, I was still taking photographs using the soft white light installed by Baan Song Nok, the bird was literally glowing blue.

I think when the bird retreats into dark thickets or darker areas in the forest, they can been seen by the female right away. Just like any other bird using feathers display to attract the female, in the case of the male Tickell’s Blue Flycatcher, it is using its iridescent blue coloured feathers to attract the female.
