As soon as we arrived on Doi Lang, we were exhausted and unsure about where to bird. The blogs and stories of the birders that were there before said that you can find the birds just about anywhere and prospecting can frustrating if one does not pay attention to the signs that the birds are already just around. We stopped by the roadside guessing the presence of the birds and we were not wrong. We can hear them alright and yet finding them and taking great shots was another story. As soon as this Woodpecker showed up, it stayed for us but it was quite a trick to capture it in the camera, it was just moving around frequently.

Found in Vietnam, China, Bhutan, India, Laos Myanmar, and also in Thailand; it lives in subtropical and tropical moistland forest on the mountains.
