The Little Tern is a Seabird breeding in coastal areas and inland waterways of temperate Europe and Asia. It is migratory wintering in subtropical and tropical oceans as far as South Africa and Australia.
Breeding in colonies on gravel or shingle coasts and islands, they are always defensive of their nests and young from predators or anything that presents threat or violating their space.
It is difficult to take great photographs of them as they are always flying and when they are on the ground, coming close to take great shots can be tricky, one needs a hide or just freeze right there under the heat of the sun and then they may come.
