The Grey Wagtail or Motacilla cinerea is a bird that can’t just stop moving. You might see it standing still but yet the tail bobs up and down all the time. When we started getting serious in capturing this character in the camera, we just can’t stop laughing, it is really funny. This Wagtail can be seen just about anywhere in Thailand, on lakes, puddles, streams, on the road, in the forest, even on higher elevations, they can be found wagging their tails.
What’s with the wagging? I don’t know. I am not a scientist, I love birds. But here’s what I think it is doing; it is wagging its tail to fan insects out so it can prey on them, or create vibration on the ground, or just for bloody fun. Anyways, please don’t believe me, let’s find out from bird scientists and know why.
