The Blue-winged Leafbird or Chloropsis cochinchinensis is found in the forest and second growth throughout Southeast Asia and up to Borneo and as far as Java. This is a Near Threatened bird so I am very excited to have this as part of my Leafbirds collection.
Leafbirds are no ordinary birds as they are literally created colourful. They take green as a main colour as a leafbird, then some other extra colours to compliment them. Fantastically created, and then they also behave like Spiderhunters and Sunbirds. So blessed to have seen this beauty as it was feeding on spiders and other insects.
They must have been hunted and collected as pets and later on for pet trading that’s why its population is nearly threatened now. I am so happy to have this and especially as it was feeding, so I was able to observe and understand and learn about this bird in the wild.
