The Sperm Whale or Physeter macrocephalus is also called Cachalot,ˈkæʃəˌlɒt, ˈkæʃəˌloʊ, is the largest toothed whale and also the largest toothed predator on the planet. The only living member of genus Physeter and one of three surviving species in the sperm whale family, together with the Pygmy Sperm Whale and Dwarf Sperm Whale of the genus Kogia.

Sperm Whale: the largest part of its back that I was able to capture with my camera.

As a pelagic mammal, it can be found worldwide as it breeds and feeds at known places and Siargao is one of the spots.

As we were returning to land from a long day of Pelagic Birding at Tuyo Ka Bato. Thanks a lot MiguelDavid De Leon for this opportunity to see this.

Sperm Whale: the head side of the Sperm Whale that we saw as it was ready to dive back into the water.
