The Stork-billed kingfisher or Pelargopsis capensis is a tree kingfisher which is widely but sparsely distributed in the tropical Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, from India to Indonesia. This kingfisher is resident throughout its range.

It was a difficulty to have this taken at close range since the location was muddy, stinky, mosquito infested, very low light situation and if it rains, then its game over. The mud we collected was so thick it was so hard to move, to position the chair for us to sit in the hide was also sinking in the mud. The worse case scenario of birding put together.

Well, I am so happy to have this at close range and I can’t cant complain as the frame was full exactly like this. I just can’t stop here until I get the right shots for this lovely bird. The low light situation is the worse among all the difficulties.
