The White-rumped Pygmy Falcon or Polihierax insignis is also called White-rumped Falcon is a bird of prey in the family Falconidae native to Indochina in which it is Nearly Threatened. It is only found in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam; its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and dry savanna in which Huai Kha Kaeng Wildlife Sanctuary is perfect for a habitat.
Most of the Falcons that I have encountered in Thailand are friendly and easily lured especially by food, this one fed on wild Grasshoppers and other small insects.
Thanks a lot Ajarn Chaiyan Kasorndorkbua for all the instructions and tips on how to approach this lovely Falcon, I have given justice to this bird and Arpha Vida Buga-ay, out of the blue, wanted to really get this and the funny thing is that, she just stared and looked at the bird through a pair of binoculars for the first day and on the second, she took some shots for keeps.
