The Pied Harrier or Circus melanoleucos is one of the easiest accipiters to capture in the camera as it likes to hover above grasslands, rice fields, and marshes. Yet, it is also difficult as they roost just before dark of the late afternoon. I have been to the Haven of Harriers three times already and yet the joy of watching them roost and hover around before roosting is a fantastic feeling. It is not a joke driving to the north of Thailand, it is really far and one must be committed to be on time, counting stops, managing fuel, overheating of the engine, and plenty of rest.
