The Chinese Blackbird or Turdus mandarinus is a Thrush from family Turdidae and formerly considered a subspecies of the Common Blackbird. A rare migrant to Thailand and breeds in the south, central and east China.
Arpha and I heard about the bird while we were in the north of Thailand and we were not also sure if the bird would stay that long for us to twitch on the way back home from our long expedition. I sat in the hide with Arpha, I was dead tired from two weeks from the North of Thailand, birding like crazy. My ass was soar of driving long, my eyes were dang tired, I had no shower for three days, I was very hungry, my fuel was very low; then it came with a happy call… A solitary bird which likes to announce itself before eating the fallen small round fruits on the ground. First bird of the year 2019 and taken on the first day as well. That was an amazing day for me and Arpha.
