Grey-headed Woodpecker: this photograph may not be used without permission.
The Grey-headed Woodpecker or Picus canus is also called the Grey-faced Woodpecker, is a Eurasian member of the woodpecker family, Picidae.
After all the hype as everybody is paying homage to Kaeng Krachan National Park, the posts of Khun Kin Shing Li compelled me and my family to go and try to get some fresh air right there last weekend. Thanks to Khun Chutinand Yuwawidhyaphanich for giving us directions and introducing us to Khun Nuy Kumnangpaya. We were welcomed by Khun Nokki Kumnangpaya into their humble guesthouse and hosted us at their bird hide which I got this babe and other wonderful birds.
Surely Woodpeckers are beautiful birds; it may seem easy to capture them as a proper photograph until you find yourself pissed as they can’t just stop from pecking on wood or going around a trunk. I observed a Greater Yellowsnape feeding its young five feet away and I am not kidding. Those were the days when I and my wife were just enthusiastic of birds and now bloody serious about it. It is not just a hobby now but it is a passion and I paint birds.
