Tiger Shrike: this photograph may not be used without permission.

The Tiger Shrike or Lanius tigrinus is also called Thick-billed Shrike is a passerine bird found in wooded habitats across eastern Asia. As it is a predatory bird feeding on small animals and even birds, it is shy and would not tolerate human presence and will always keep a distance. Named after its tiger-like feather design perfect for camouflaging in the wild, its not actually easy to find this bird.

I had been wanting to have this bird in my collection and some years ago I was already excited to have thought I had the bird photographed and yet I was mistaken.
Koh Mun Nai has been a fantastic experience since the Tiger Shrike also showed up and stayed very long for us as we were hidden in our hides; exposed for the bird to see us, there is noway we could have taken shots like this and yet to me this not not perfect. I wanted it closer and more detailed work, let’s wait for next time.
