Named after Alexander the Great as he was known exporting this specimen from Punjab into Europe and some other Mediterranean countries and region. Owning one was a status symbol to the rich and nobles. Well then, they were the first noble poachers. The female is a lot simpler absent display of rose pink neck and and the black line on the neck.

Ayutthaya is magical as an ancient capital, its rivers, its majestic ancient temples, culture, local restaurants, car factories, and people. It is a world destination not only by curious foreigners but for some special birds as well, like this bird and others. At the temple school, there is a big tree with several burrows of this lovely birds. They are not afraid of people anymore and they seem to even enjoy the children coming to school and playing on the ground; and for us borders, it is a joy.
