The Buffy Fish Owl or Ketupa ketupu is also called the Malay fish owl is an uncommon resident of Khao Yai National Park and it was an early Christmas gift on my part. One has to travel far down south to find such an owl and it came with a baby owl so double the fun. They carefully chose the roosting spot so they are very near a body of water and yet they also had to choose the tree adjacent to a coffee shop where there is a platform where one can enjoy his favorite coffee while watching this lovely treat of a Buffy Fish Owl.

Thanks a lot Khun Chatchai Manakhantikul for confirming to me and giving me the direction. Thanks also to Orrawan Suwittayapun for giving the right spot. It was a great and fantastic day meeting up with friends again and just having coffee, conversation, planning where to go this winter break. Meeting Brian Hewitt and Raymond David Pearce was a fantastic treat as well as we talked about our birding exploits and experiences.
